Since posting my Pretty Vulgar haul the other week I’ve been trying out their products and I think I’ve finally decided on some favourites. Honestly, I liked all of the products I tried but these are the ones that stood out to me the most and I’ve already moved them into my current makeup rotation. I’ve also picked the winners for my giveaway! :)
A little while ago Pretty Vulgar sent me an extremely generous pr package so today I wanted to show you what I got inside and giveaway a few products too! I don't think I've done many hauls on my blog but I think I'll start doing more of these first impressions/haul posts. I'm lucky enough to get sent a lot of products to try but often don't get the opportunity to show you new stuff since I don't end up reviewing or frequently using everything I'm sent. I think it would be nice to show you more products aside from my latest favourites or current go-tos. (This way I can hopefully do more giveaways too hehe.)
Today I wanted to share some of my favourite beauty finds from 2017 with you. Not necessarily new releases from 2017, but products that were new to me. I’d planned to do this as a video but after filming half of it I realised I was just repeating all of my favourites videos from throughout the year almost product for product. Instead I’ve challenged myself to narrow it down to only 5 products to see where my loyalty and love really lies. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be!
Christmas is just a few days away so I wanted to show you some of Soap & Glory’s holiday releases in case you need to rush out and grab some last minute gifts! I’m a big Soap & Glory fan. My bathroom and makeup bag is always full of their products and whenever someone’s birthday or the holidays roll around I always find myself buying and gifting them some of my favourites. This year will be no exception and I'll actually be heading out to pick up some of the products below today!
HEY! It's been a long time since I last posted on here and I'm so excited to finally have things to write about again and be in a position with my health where I feel like I can make a comeback. Before I get right back into the looks and reviews, I wanted to quickly update you on some changes I've made around here. If you've watched my latest Chit Chat video then you're already caught up. If not... I've made two new blogs! 'But Emma... You can't keep up with one, what's wrong with you?' Hear me out...
Deary me, it's been a long time. Hello! If you follow me on my social media you might know that I’ve been going through a really rough time with my health recently. All of my time and energy for the past couple of months has been spent focusing on getting better and I honestly feel a little bit lost sat here writing this blog post. I feel so out of practice and strangely nervous about coming back online.
Happy (almost) weekend! Here's some inspiration for your Friday morning. I've been stepping WAY outside of my comfort zone and playing with more colourful and graphic looks recently. Although I still almost always gravitate towards neutral tones and smokey eyes I feel like I'm starting to become more comfortable with wearing colour in day to day life.
After filming mylast video where I did a look using the Kat Von D Pastel Goth palette, I wanted to keep going and use more of the colours in the palette and just play around with makeup some more. I don't usually film when I'm just playing around with makeup without any kind of plan but I'm glad I decided to film this one because I'm so happy with how it turned out!
I usually run away from colours like this but had fun wearing something colourful today! I only got my hands on this palette last week so I haven't used it enough to give a full review yet but I wanted to do a look anyway in case any of you also have the palette and want some inspo. :)
Join me on a CRAFTING ADVENTURE. Lately I've been planning some bigger projects and working out which techniques I want to use to craft certain props and costume pieces. One of my characters will have horns so I wanted to have a go at making some with Worbla for the first time and see how I like them. I thought I would also film the process and show you how I got on so you guys can learn along with me!
Today I have a tasty little makeup and skincare haul for you to watch, if you're into that kind of thing! I haven't had the best luck with filming any makeup looks recently so I decided to sit down and film a chilled out talky-type video this week instead. :)
WHAT. I had no idea Too Faced was sending this glorious package out to me so it was a nice surprise when I received this baby in the post the other week! After spending some time getting to know the products, today I finally wanted to share my thoughts on everything inside. It feels like forever since my last proper review so here we go!
Let's start the week with some makeup inspo! Ever since Marzia gifted me some Urban Decay liners back when we were in LA together, this purple ombré liner look has been in my go-to makeup rotation. I actually filmed and fully edited a video for this look too but the eyeshadow is just so much like the other tutorials I've posted recently so I'd feel bad posting it just for the sake of posting. SO. I'll shoot something else for you this week instead! :)
Today I played around with some of the products from the Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection. I was lucky enough to receive a gorgeous PR package from them yesterday and wanted to start testing out the products, as always, before I consider posting a review. I like a lot of Too Faced products already so I'm hoping I will enjoy these too, but I'll let you know next week!
Today I wanted to include a pop of colour into an otherwise grungy-ish look. I went with blue but you can literally use whatever colour you want. You can use this look as an opportunity to use colours you'd usually be scared of trying out, or you can use colours that compliment and bring out your eye colour. For such a simple look, you can have lots of fun with it!
It’s a new year so it’s time to start a new planner! During 2016 I had so many ideas and new things I wanted to try. I had these overly ambitious plans of doing full cosplays, fabricating props, doing loads of prosthetic projects, blogging every day, posting two videos a week, learning a new language, working out, cooking at home more, learning to drive, travelling…
I am absolutely in love with today's look! I wanted to create a look for the holidays using traditional festive colours but put them together in a way that isn't too overwhelming or too difficult to do. I'm so pleased with how it turned out! I don't often appreciate softer looks but this one is too cute not to love.
As promised, here is a beauty video! I thought I would ease back into doing more beauty again with my current go-to makeup routine. I've worn this look almost every time I've felt fancy enough to put on pants and wear makeup lately.
It's been a hot minute since I've done any kind of beauty on here or my YouTube channel so for the past few days I've been making up for that and having fun creating lots of different looks that I'll be posting here on my blog then eventually uploading on my channel too! My skin is sad but my heart is happy.
Oh hey! Long time no see. I'm finally back from three weeks away in LA and a couple of tragic weeks trying to play catch up and ultimately messing up everything I worked on, haha. But finally here's another video!
I'm super excited about today's video! I've teamed up with X-Men to bring you this Nightcrawler look. Nightcrawler has been on the to-do list for so long now but I'm glad Kodi Smit-McPhee's Nightcrawler is the one I ended up doing because I really love this version of the character and his new look!
Another video?! Whaaaaaat. Today I have a crispy barbecue zombie look for you! I wanted to do something that isn't too difficult to do but would still be an interesting costume for Halloween. It also uses materials that aren't too difficult to get your hands on at this time of year and also offers alternatives for some things.
Last week, I ordered some Halloween/SFX makeup goodies from Red Carpet FX so today I thought I would show you what I got. I also asked the guys over there if I could put together some kits for a giveaway, so three of you will also be getting some new products to play with this Halloween!
Today's video is sponsoredby Snazaroo face paints! The brief was to create a cute festive look so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to try the deer makeup trend that was going around a few years back since I never tried it back then and have always had it on my to-do list. I ended up with two versions: one is very bold with a sprinkling of attitude and the other is simply very cute. It just hit me as I'm writing this... Naughty & Nice! What a wonderful coincidink. A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.
For today's video I took The Punisher Skull and put it on my face! Like with every Marvel release on Netflix, Brad and I binged through the whole series the day it came out. We've been looking forward to The Punisher show ever since he appeared in Daredevil and oh baby it didn't disappoint. There's a scene towards the end (no spoilers) where he has the logo spray painted on his body armour and there are bullets and blood and the second I saw it I turned to Brad with the face of the heart eyes emoji and said I had to make this into a video somehow.
Man oh man did I love me some Pennywise in the new IT movie. I enjoyed everything about him from the character design to how creepily endearing he was, right down to the lovely Bill Skarsgård underneath all that makeup. I hadn't read the book or seen the previous version before I went to go watch it and honestly I went mostly for makeup research purposes. But the second he appeared in that storm drain and spoke... My heart melted and I spent the whole movie looking forward to his next scene and dying to get home and download the book. Brad's poor arm must have been numb by the end of the movie from all the mini excitement-punches I threw his way while watching lol.
It's been YEARS since my last creepy clown look so I thought it was about time I fixed that. Meet Cannibal the Clown! I used a cotton and latex build up technique so it's a very easy look to achieve while still looking really effective. Since the latex is applied all over the face, you should also be able to pull it all off in one go and have a mask left over! You can keep it and display it or even reapply it at a later date, which would be ideal for a repeated costume. Mine is currently hanging in my office making me jump every time I catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye haha.
Meet one of my new favourite lil characters! I have no idea where she came from, but I'm glad my brain space pooped her out. I think she's lovely. The brief I had set myself for this video was 'demon' and the only thing I'd actually planned to include was small horns on the forehead and a bunch of scarification. The horns didn't work out but the scars most certainly did! I swapped out horns for bloody tears instead and bam, I got myself a demon lady.
Oh baby. If you ever wanted to know what I wished I looked like all the time... This is it. My momma brought me up on vampire tv shows and movies and now many years later I'm sat here typing up this blog post with the word 'nosferatu' tattooed on my wrist, so I guess the love is still going strong!
Time for another Halloween video! I'm not entirely sure where this one came from to be honest, but I love it! It somehow reminds me of a butterfly. I had plans to do a darker skull to contrast the bright flowers in my hair, but then I opened up my paint palette and saw all the bright colours and ended up with this instead. I can't seem to deny myself these shades! If you look back at the rare colourful looks I've done in the past, they almost always include some, if not all, of these colours.
Today I’m finally back to doing makeup, kicking off the Halloween videos for this year, announcing a new partnership AND launching this new blog. Exciting stuff! The look I have for you today is inspired by the promo posters for the upcoming Jigsaw movie. The SAW films were some of my favourites growing up so I'm looking forward to binge watching them all again before the new addition. I wonder if they hold up?
