During February I discovered what I think will be my lazy day makeup routine for the foreseeable future. Compared to my usual looks it's so simple, yet it still makes me feel chic and put together. (And fabulously grungy at the same time.)
Face » When I'm not spending time in front of a camera, I don’t tend to wear heavy face makeup. Usually I don’t wear any at all for day to day life but when I do, I generally don’t cover up ‘imperfections’ as you’ll see in the photos. I posted a video for this look a few days before I started drafting this post and I saw a few comments from people showing their relief over the fact I don’t cover my spots and that it helps them feel more ‘normal’. That’s wonderful to hear! I think makeup is an amazing tool for art and for beauty but you should never feel like you have to use it to cover anything up. Spots are natural and I've grown to accept them and even embrace them sometimes! I wear a lot of grungy makeup and clothes and if anything, I think they enhance that kind of look. Spots are the new meta? Hahaha.
I haven’t been wearing bronzer or contour recently either. I've been wearing the Smashbox CC Cream which is far to dark for me, so when I apply a lighter concealer over the top of it on the high points of my face, it ends up working as bronzer and adds shape into the face anyway! I feel like I'm cheating on my usual products.
Eyes » Here’s where things get tasty. I rediscovered my Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette this month and I instantly fell back in love with it. Or at least, one shade in particular. Stun is… Absolutely stunning. Ayyyy. It’s a super dimensional shade that looks like you’ve put far more effort into your eye makeup than you actually have. It’s effortless. I apply this and nothing else and it looks like I’m wearing at least three different shades. Unfortunately I’ve found out they don’t sell it as a single shadow, but this is probably one of my all time favourite palettes so if you did decide to treat yourself then I promise you wouldn’t regret it.
Lips » Recently I’ve been wearing Trap from ColourPop. Another liquid lipstick, Emma?! Yes. I can’t help it. They’re such a low maintenance product. And you know I’m all about that lazy life. All you need to do is apply once and touch up maybe once or twice throughout the day and that’s it.
Even though this look isn’t as exciting as my usual ones I do think it’s quite different so I decided I’d film this one too. Here’s a video for you! And there is also a part two showing how I would make this look grungier and heavier.
