Makeup of the Month // April

For the past month I've found myself pulled in by Korean beauty and trying out lots of different techniques and experimenting with makeup styles I wouldn't usually wear. I've always been aware that Korean beauty has a different approach, but until you dive into that world, it’s impossible to know how different it really is. In this post you can see how I've pulled inspiration from different K-beauty tips and tricks and made them work for me and my own style!

« Face »
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
tarte cc undereye corrector (light/medium)
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (Gobi)
tarte maracuja creaseless concealer (fairly light neutral)
Urban Decay Naked Basics (Naked 2)
SkinFood Peach Sake Silky Finish Powder
KleanColor 2 in 1 Lip & Cheek Balm (Chateau)
theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

I've been opting for a very dewy finish for my skin. I've been using my usual products but I've been using them slightly differently. The tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer I usually use can look very dewy and shiny if you don’t dull it with a powder, so I’ve been taking advantage of that. I’ve been applying it in more areas than just underneath my eyes, like the high points of the face and my cheeks, without touching it with a setting powder so it will keep that shine.  It’s been working out great!

« Eyes »
Avon Eyeshadow Primer
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
OR very recently I've been using the Lorac Pro Palette ♥
tarte Clay Pot (Brown)
Ciate Triple Shot Mascara
Sweed Lashes x Linda Hallberg Lashes
Sigma Brow Duo (Medium) + Eyeko Tinted Brow Gel

I haven’t been adding lots of shadow through the socket like I usually do. I've been attempting more of a puppy eye instead of cat eye. This is where the liner and eyeshadow is pulled out and down instead up winged upwards. It’s a nice difference and something to try if you haven’t before. It can really change up your whole look.

I’ve also been applying the makeup underneath my eyes slightly differently. I’ve been adding aegyo sal into my look since it’s something I’ve seen a lot of Korean beauty YouTubers and idols do and I think it’s very cute. Aegyo sal isn’t ‘eye bags’  which I see is a common misconception. Instead it refers to the cute little fatty bit underneath the eye, higher up than typical eye bag. Since this is something most often seen in younger people it’s a technique used to suggest youth! Totally different to eye bags. I don’t have these naturally so I’ve had a lot of fun shading mine in. I personally dislike leaving underneath my eyes without any eyeshadow which is why I tend to avoid wearing softer more natural looks, but this way I can add product to that area in an interesting way and still wear a soft look!

« Lips »
Peripera Peri's Lip Tint (Pink Juice)
Tonymoly tony tint (Delight)

I’ve been trying out lip tints and creating gradient lips but I don’t think it’s a look for me. Tints are trashpoop for people with dry lips, like me, as they just set in the cracks and make the lips look sore and bleedy, haha.

What do you think? Will you be trying any of these makeup styles or techniques?
